*Nationally, 1099/Self-Employed workers are now eligible for unemployment so long as they are considered nonessential.

*Taxes will still have to be paid on unemployment.

*Applying for unemployment does NOT mean you will be approved.

*The government has added an additional $600/week on top of regular unemployment. This additional payment will last for 4 months.

*For CA residents: your application will ask you about your previous employer (within the last 18 months). If you have received a W-2 in the last 18 months, you will enter that employers info. If you have been self employed for more than 18 months, you will skip over this portion.

*For CA residents: if you are an Independent Stylist, when asked what your occupation is, you will type in "Beauty Operator" and it will give you an option to choose Cosmetologist or Barber.

*Unemployment is NOT the same as the stimulus check. They are two separate things.

*The stimulus checks will be sent out automatically if you filed for 2018 or 2019 taxes.

*Stimulus checks are a ONE TIME payment.
